On April 28, 2015, Toei Animation announced the production of Dragon Ball Super (Japanese title; tentative for English release), the first all-new Dragon Ball television series to be released in 18 years. Dragon Ball Super began on Sunday, July 5, 2015 on Fuji TV in Japan, with Norihito Sumitomo returning as its musical composer, and Tadayoshi Yamamuro as the series’ character designer. Dragon Ball Super takes place exactly 6 months following the defeat of Majin Buu, and is being, “overseen by Dragon Ball’s original creator, Akira Toriyama”.
On Sunday June 14, 2015 a short TV teaser trailer was aired during the regularly scheduled Dragon Ball Kai episode, giving fans the first real look at the series’ and its new animation. The full 30-second second teaser was then revealed shortly thereafter.
Additionally, issue #31 of Weekly Shōnen Jump revealed exactly when Dragon Ball Super takes place in the Dragon Ball timeline:
Episode #1, “Who Will the 100 Million Zenny Peace Reward Go To…?!”
With the Earth at peace, Goku earns money?!
Six months after the fierce battle with Majin Buu. While the days pass peacefully, Goku works tilling the soil like Chi-Chi had ordered him, while still finding time to train. Meanwhile, newly weds Gohan and Videl are living happily, but…?!
The first episode of Dragon Ball Super series takes place 6 months after the defeat of Majin Buu. With that said, not only does Dragon Ball Super take place before Battle of Gods, which takes place 4 years after Buu’s defeat, but also before the Jump Super Anime Tour Special, which takes place just 2 years after the defeat of Buu.
