Female Saiyan Caulifla Makes Her Debut in Dragon Ball Super

Share This :

On this week’s Dragon Ball Super, a character we have been teased multiple times finally made her debut–a female Saiyan, now known as Caulifla, a pun on the word “Cauliflower”, keeping in tune with the theme of Saiyan names bearing those of vegetables.

Another female Saiyan character was first teased in the preview trailer for the “Universe Survival Arc” of Dragon Ball Super. She was shown for an instant in her base form before transforming into a buff and meaty Super Saiyan resembling a character we all know and love. The same scene, minus the base form, is also shown in the opening theme.

Caulifa’s character was officially introduced in the June edition of V-Jump, giving us more information about her, which you can read down below.

HERE COME A NEW SAIYAN!!!
The participation of a new, powerful warrior is introduced along with information about a thrilling, highly anticipated event!!

Main topic!! A female Saiyan at last!!!
A new Saiyan is confirmed to appear in “DB Super”!! Where does she come from? Universe 6? Universe 7? In any case, there’s no doubt we need to pay close attention to her!!!

Made Official by Akira Toriyama’s Character Sheet!!!
She’s supposed to be a Saiyan, but…
If you look closely at her lower back on the model sheet, she’s supposedly a Saiyan, but she has no tail!?

And the new Saiyan in the opening animation?!
There was already a female Saiyan revealed in the opening animation!!

Finally, on episode 88 of Dragon Ball Super, the character (and her name in the credits) officially debuted, revealed as a Saiyan from Universe 6, like Cabba. She also has an older brother, whose name is Rensou, a pun on the Japanese word for “spinach” (菠薐草, hourensou).

The V-Jump article makes her seem very important, so of course, we will keep an eye on Caulifla as the series progresses into the Tournament of Power.

Toei Animation announced the production of Dragon Ball Super (Japanese title; tentative for English release), the first all-new Dragon Ball television series to be released in 18 years.
